More

Manassas, Virginia was a sleepy bedroom community of Washington D.C. during the years I lived in the D.C. area. Not much happens there but in the years 1966 through the late 1980s there was an annual jazz festival produced by a friend. I helped him over the years and in 1982 after I had grown bored and wanted to see no more afternoon or early evening performances I decided to document over consumption at strip malls in America and used all the malls along Route 234 outside Manassas, Virginia. Later, I named this three-day project More because I remembered that’s what Johnny Rocco wanted in the wonderful Bogart/Bacall movie, Key Largo. About 100 photographs were selected to make up the project; these are some that stand alone.
